Coast Guard assists passengers from grounded vessel near Ocracoke Inlet, NC

24 Grand IsleWILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan boater transferred one injured mariner and four other people Monday after their boat ran aground near Ocracoke Inlet.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet received a call for assistance at approximately 5:50 p.m. from the 24-foot pleasure craft Miss Virginia.

A 24-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Ocracoke Inlet launched at 6:10 p.m. A good Samaritan also responded and took aboard two adults and three children from the grounded vessel. The five survivors were then transferred to the Coast Guard RBS.

The injured adult was transferred to awaiting Silver Lake emergency medical personnel at the North Carolina Center for Advancement in Teaching Pier.
