VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Coast Guard assisted a 51-year-old man Friday after his vessel became disabled one mile east of Great Neck Bridge.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads received a report at 5:10 p.m. that a man was aboard the 24-foot boat Fish Bone, and the boat was disabled.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Little Creek was already in the area and diverted to assist the man. The boat crew arrived and towed the vessel to The Yacht Club at Marina Shores in Virginia Beach.
“We were glad to be on scene quickly before the temperature dropped for the night,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon S. Castelloe, the coxswain from Station Little Creek who responded to the case. “With his being in a wake zone, we were glad to get him back to shore without further incident.”
No injuries or pollution were reported.
