SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Coast Guard and Santa Barbara rescuers are searching for a missing man off the coast in Santa Barbara.
The man was last seen on his sailboat which capsized about 200 yards off Leadbetter Beach just before 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
The empty boat washed ashore about 20 minutes later.
The U.S. Coast Guard along with Santa Barbara Fire Departments and Harbor Patrol are using helicopters and rescue boats to search for the man through the night.
The National Weather service has issued a small craft advisory for the Southern California coast and expects surf as high as nine feet through Thursday.
