Coast Guard assists in rescue of person in the water near Rockport, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard assisted in the rescue of a man who fell overboard from a vessel in Copano Bay near Rockport, Texas, Saturday night.

Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received notification from Rockport Police Department of a disabled personal watercraft. The operator of the watercraft reported a second person onboard to be in the water but not locatable.

A Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and Coast Guard Station Port Aransas boat crew were launched.

A Texas Parks and Wildlife boat crew arrived on scene could hear the person in the water screaming for help, but could not locate him.

Once on scene, the aircrew of the MH-65 spotted the man in the water and vectored in the Texas Parks and Wildlife boat crew who were able to recover the individual from the water.

The man did not request any medical assistance.
