LONGBOAT PASS, Fla. — Five people aboard a 48-foot commercial fishing boat were assisted by the Coast Guard after they began taking on water one and a half miles south of here, Monday.
A crewmember aboard the Miss Shannon contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders at 8:49 a.m., over VHF-FM channel 16 radio reporting they were taking on water in the bow of the boat, had the flooding under control, were anchored and in need of assistance.
A 45-foot Response Boat — Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Cortez arrived on scene, took the Miss Shannon and it’s crew in tow to Cortez Cove Boatworks for repair.
No injuries were reported.
