Coast Guard Assists Elderly Couple with Grounded Vessel

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard assisted an elderly couple after their vessel ran aground at the south end of the Swinomish Channel near Bellingham, Wash., yesterday.

Coast Guard Station Port Angeles received a call at 1 p.m. from the 37-foot Nordic Tug Augenbleck that they ran aground and needed assistance but were in no immediate distress.

Coast Guard Station Bellingham launched a 25-foot response boat crew to aid the couple and transport them safely to the Cornet Bay Marina.

The couple anchored their vessel and are working with Vessel Assist.
