Coast Guard assists boater taking on water off Atlantic City coast

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Coast Guard assisted a boater today after the 26-foot boat he was on started taking on water about 14 miles southeast of Atlantic City.

The Coast Guard received the distress call from the operator of the Surfbroad at 7:35 a.m. who reported having more than a foot of water in the boat.

The Coast Guard launched a boat crew from Coast Guard Station Great Egg, N.J., and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City.

The air crew arrived first on scene and monitored the situation until the Coast Guard boat crew arrived.

Once the boat crew was on scene, they escorted the boat to Somers Point, N.J.
