Coast Guard assists boater from grounded sailboat near Baltimore

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard assisted a boater Saturday after the 29-foot sailboat he was aboard ran aground in the Patapsco River near Baltimore east of Rock Creek.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Baltimore received notification at approximately 1 p.m. from the man reporting he had run aground due to dense fog in the area.

A crew aboard a 25-foot Response Boat – Small from Coast Guard Station Curtis Bay, Md., arrived on scene and transferred the man onto their boat. The man was transported to White Rocks Marina in Pasadena, Md.

The sailboat is currently aground awaiting salvage.

There are no reports of injuries.
