Coast Guard Assists Boat Taking on Water

JUNEAU, Alaska – The Coast Guard is assisting a boat that was taking on water at approximately 9 a.m., near Cook Inlet 40 miles west of Homer.

A C-130 and a rescue helicopter were launched from Air Station Kodiak after receiving a distress call from the Final Four, a 30-foot recreational boat with six people aboard. The Coast Guard Cutter Roanoke Island, a 110-foot patrol boat from Homer also responded to the distress call.

The Cutter Roanoke Island arrived on scene and assisted in dewatering the Final Four and started towing the boat toward Homer. The cutter will rendezvous with Sea Tow, a commercial marine assistance company, which will tow the Final Four to Homer.

No injuries have been reported.
