CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. — The Coast Guard assisted four people after their boat became disabled in Chincoteague, Thursday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Chincoteague were notified of a disabled 22-foot pontoon boat, 200 yards from Station Chincoteague, with two men and two women aboard, at approximately 7:10 p.m.
Station Chincoteague launched a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft – Shallow Water boat crew at approximately7:25 p.m. and arrived at 7:30 p.m.
The Coast Guard crew towed the vessel to Town Dock South, in Chincoteague, at 8 p.m.
“We were glad the vessel was in such close proximity to the station,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Clifton J. Perry, officer-on-duty at Station Chincoteague. “We also ask that boaters always make sure to properly inspect your equipment before getting underway and ensure the required amount Personal Flotation devices are on board.”
