Coast Guard assists 3 mariners on vessel taking on water

NEW YORK — The Coast Guard assisted three mariners after their boat began taking on water in Moriches Bay, New York, Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a report from Coast Guard Station Shinnecock stating one of their 29-foot Response Boat-Smalls (RB-S) was flagged down by a 21-foot vessel which was taking on water in Moriches Bay, New York.

The RB-S boatcrew assisted the mariners with dewatering efforts and safely towed the vessel up the Forge River to the owners residence.

No injuries or pollution were reported.
