Coast Guard assists 3 aboard disabled boat south of Cape Charles, VA

25 PortsmouthCAPE CHARLES, Va — The Coast Guard towed a boat Saturday with three people aboard 10 miles south of Cape Charles.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Cape Charles received a report at 2:17 p.m. that a 16-foot boat was disabled with two men and a woman aboard.

A 25-foot Rescue Boat-Small crew from Station Cape Charles was already underway conducting training and arrived on scene at 3:08 p.m. The boat crew took the boat in tow and towed it to Cape Charles at 5:17 p.m.

No injuries or pollution were reported.

“With Summer coming, boat traffic is going to be on the rise,” said Senior Chief Petty Officer David Stone, coxswain for the case. “Remember to check your boat’s safety equipment and make sure the boat is fully operational before you launch.”
