Coast Guard assisting with sunken boat in Biscayne Bay

MIAMI – Coast Guard crews, along with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and National Park Service officials are responding to a vessel that sank in Biscayne Bay National Park.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received a distress call from the 72-foot motor vessel, Miss Meredith, around midnight stating they were taking on water. Tow Boat U.S. arrived on scene and safely removed three people aboard from the vessel.

Miss Meredith sank in about 30-feet of water and reportedly has about 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel aboard. There are reports of sheen from the vessel and officials are determining a course of action for salvage operations.
