Coast Guard assisting in search for 11-year-old swimmer

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Coast Guard is assisting in the search for an 11-year-old child, Saturday night, in the vicinity of the Grand Atlantic Ocean Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center received the call from the Myrtle Beach Police Department, who is leading the search, at 8:40 p.m. The report stated that a boy was swimming with a group of people and went under the water. The group reported they didn’t see him resurface.

A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston was launched to assist in the search.
