MOBILE, Ala. — The Coast Guard is assisting local agencies in searching for two missing men.
The Coast Guard received the initial report of the missing men at approximately 7 p.m. Sunday from the Alabama Marine Police, who had discovered an empty canoe. After determining the owner and talking with his wife, the Alabama Marine Police determined that he and his friend were missing.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile launched a 41-foot rescue boat and crew from Station Dauphin Island and an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter and crew from Air Station New Orleans to assist in the search.
The Coast Guard is continuing to search this morning from North Mobile Bay to the Tensaw River.
