Coast Guard anounces light color change on the Manistee North Pier Head Light

9th Coast Guard District News
CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard announced Friday that it will replace the lantern and solarize the Manistee North Pier Head Light near Manistee, Mich., along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.

The change to the light’s characteristics is scheduled to occur on Monday.

The new lantern will change the color of the light from white to green and the light flash characteristic from ISO W 6s to FL G 6(1)s.

The green light will make the channel lateral — meaning red on the right and green on the left when returning to port. The range of the new light will be 12 statute miles. A broadcast notice to mariners will be issued and broadcast for a period of two weeks following the change.
