Coast Guard announces safety zone on Ohio River

WELLSBURG, W.Va. — The Coast Guard is scheduled to set a safety zone on the Ohio River, Sunday, in preparation for a fireworks display sponsored by the Wellsburg 4th of July Committee.

Navigation will be restricted extending 330 feet from the left descending bank from mile marker 73.5 to 74.5. The safety zone will be enforced from 9 p.m. until approximately 11 p.m.

Mariners shall not enter into, depart from, or move within the safety zone unless specifically authorized by the captain of the port or a designated representative. All concerned mariners can contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event on VHF-FM Channel 16 for more information.
