CLEVELAND — The Coast Guard announced Tuesday that portions of the Saginaw River are scheduled to be closed to boating traffic Thursday through Saturday, in response to the Bay City Fireworks.
The Coast Guard will be enforcing safety zones to keep mariners clear of danger during the fireworks display.
Thursday and Friday from 9:45 to 11:20 p.m., the river will be closed to marine traffic from Friendship Pier to Veterans Memorial Bridge. Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight, the river will be closed to marine traffic from Friendship Pier to Veterans Boat Launch.
Also, due to an anticipated increase in pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and emergency services, Liberty Bridge will not follow its normal scheduled openings from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Questions regarding the closures may be directed to Coast Guard Station Saginaw River’s officer-of-the-day at 989-892-7009.
