Coast Guard announces opening of Rogue River Search and Rescue Detachment

ASTORIA, Ore. – The Coast Guard opened its seasonal Rogue River Search and Rescue (SAR) Detachment in Gold Beach, Ore., Friday.

Station Rogue River is an extension of Station Chetco River operated on a seasonal basis from Memorial Day weekend to early fall. The detachment will operate both the 47-foot motor lifeboat and a 23-foot utility boat.

The Coast Guard asks boaters to pay close attention to bar conditions at the Rogue River as the weather can change suddenly. A rough bar warning sign is posted at the Rogue River Station during unfavorable bar conditions.
