WASHINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard has announced the names for its Sentinel Class of Fast Response Cutters, each vessel being named for a deceased leader, trailblazer or hero of the Coast Guard and its predecessor services of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service, the U.S. Lifesaving Service and the U.S. Lighthouse Service.
These namesakes include enlisted recipients of the Navy Cross Medal, the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Gold Lifesaving Medal, the Silver Lifesaving Medal, the Navy & Marine Corps Medal and the Purple Heart Medal.
The hull numbers and their corresponding names are:
- FRC 35 – Coast Guard Cutter Angela McShan
- FRC 36 – Coast Guard Cutter Daniel Tarr
- FRC 37 – Coast Guard Cutter Edgar Culbertson
- FRC 38 – Coast Guard Cutter Harold Miller
- FRC 39 – Coast Guard Cutter Myrtle Hazard
- FRC 40 – Coast Guard Cutter Oliver Henry
- FRC 41 – Coast Guard Cutter Charles Moulthrop
- FRC 42 – Coast Guard Cutter Robert Goldman
- FRC 43 – Coast Guard Cutter Frederick Hatch

The Fast Response Cutters are the mainstay of the Coast Guard’s coastal patrol fleet and will perform drug and migrant interdictions, ports, waterways and coastal security operations, fisheries patrols, search and rescue operations and national defense missions.
