Coast Guard and San Mateo Sheriff’s crews search for missing paddle boarder

Coast Guard District 11 NewsALAMEDA, Calif. — Coast Guard crews are searching for an overdue paddle boarder in the vicinity of Pillar Point Harbor.

The paddle boarder, Rodrigo Ruiz, was due to return at 12:30 p.m. Sunday and was reported overdue to Coast Guard Sector San Francisco at 3 p.m.

He is Hispanic and in his thirties, approximately 5’5″ and weighing 130 pounds. He has short, brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a grey wetsuit.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Golden Gate and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco. Rescue crews from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Pillar Point Harbor and the California State Park have also been searching the beaches and the surrounding areas.
