Coast Guard and partner agencies conduct exercise in Seattle

SEATTLE — Representatives from the Coast Guard, Washington State Ferry (WSF) and Seattle Fire Dept. will conduct an exercise aboard the WSF passenger vessels Chelan and Evergreen in Seattle, Tuesday.

The exercise will occur between Eagle Harbor and Port Madison and is conducted to demonstrate WSF’s ability to respond to a major casualty including rescue coordination, crew performance, lifesaving deployment and casualty triage.

The vessels will not be carrying passengers. The exercise will include marine radio dialogue and Coast Guard and Seattle Fire Department vessels responding to a simulated incident.

A 500-yard safety zone will be established by the Coast Guard around the ferries during the exercise.
