Coast Guard and local responders searching for 2 missing Guam fishermen

GUAM – Coast Guard, Guam Police Department, and Guam Fire Department crews are searching for two missing fishermen in the vicinity of First Beach, Ipan, Talofofo, Guam Sunday.

Rescue crews from the Coast Guard Cutter Washington, Guam Fire Rescue 2, Guam Fire Rescue 3, Guam Police Department, and Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 are searching for Joseph Castro, 26, and Evan Paulino, 25. Castro was said to last be seen wearing light colored shorts and Paulino was last seen to be wearing a dark shirt, khaki shorts, and flippers.

Guam Fire Rescue contacted Rescue Command Center Guam at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday. RCC Guam requested a Navy HSC-25 aircrew to search five hours of the night. Guam Police Department and Guam Fire Department conducted shoreline searches throughout the night. The Coast Guard Cutter Washington arrived on scene at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday to assist.

Weather on scene is reported to be 6 to 8-foot seas and 17 mph winds.

The Coast Guard will continue to search throughout the night.
