Coast Guard and local authorities, recover body off Cocoa Beach, Fla.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A body was recovered from the ocean approximately 12 miles east of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Thursday after being discovered by a good Samaritan.

At Approximately 11:40 a.m. a good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard watchstanders to report a body, dressed in a black wet suit and a green vest or shirt, floating in the water.

The Coast Guard and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department deployed crewmembers via small boat to retrieve the body and transported him to shore where he will be examined by medical officers.

The identification of the body is unknown at this time.
