NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard assists in the search for a missing hunter in the vicinity of the Atchafalaya River Basin, Monday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans were notified by the Iberia Perish Sheriff’s Office at 12:58 p.m. that a male hunter was missing from Dog House Camp on the Atchafalaya River.
At the request of Iberia Parish Sherriff’s office the watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans.
Local agencies continue to search with four all-terrain vehicles, two airboats, two small crafts and multiple volunteers on foot.
