Coast Guard and local agencies search for missing boater on Columbia River

ASTORIA, Ore. – The Coast Guard, along with Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office, Wash., Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, Ore., and Skamania County Dive Rescue Team, Wash., is searching for a missing boater on the Columbia River near Wishram, Wash., Friday.

Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries contacted Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office at 7:54 a.m. to report a capsized small white tribal fishing boat with four people onboard.

Once on scene, the Klickitat and Wasco County deputies found two of the boaters deceased, one in stable condition and a fourth missing.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore., conducted a search over the area.

All four boaters were not wearing lifejackets.
