MIAMI – The Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission response boatcrews and Port St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office rescued four people from the water at about 12 p.m. after their 22-foot vessel capsized in Fort Pierce Inlet, Fla., Sunday.
A good Samaritan spotted the four persons in the water at approximately 11:57 a.m. and contacted Coast Guard Sector Miami search-and-rescue coordinators.
A 25-foot and 33-foot rescue boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce, FWC boatcrew and Port St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Marine unit reported on scene and rescued the four persons from the water and transported them to Station Fort Pierce where they were evaluated and treated for minor injuries by awaiting emergency medical personnel.
The vessel was towed and will be salvaged by Sea Tow. FWC is the investigating agency.
