Coast Guard and local agencies rescue 2, searching for 1 near Sandy Point, Md.

Coast Guard District 5 NewsBALTIMORE — The Coast Guard and local authorities rescued two people and are searching for a 25-year-old man after the sailboat they were aboard capsized off the coast of Sandy Point, Md., Saturday.

A woman contacted Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders on VHF-FM channel 16 at approximately 2:30 p.m. reporting a boat capsized off of Sandy Point.

A crew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat – Medium from Coast Guard Station Annapolis, Md., rescued a 40-year-old man, who was unresponsive, and transported him to Sandy Point where he was transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel.

An Anne Arundel County Fire Department boatcrew rescued a 25-year-old woman, who was responsive.

A crew aboard an RB-M from station Annapolis, two Anne Arundel boatcrews, a Maryland Natural Resources Police boatcrew, a crew aboard a Maryland State Police helicopter, a crew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and a Queen Anne’s County boatcrew responded to search for the man.
