CLEVELAND – The Coast Guard rescued two persons and a local lifeguard rescued another from Lake Michigan after their personal watercraft capsized just outside of the Calumet Harbor breakwall in Chicago, Saturday afternoon.
At 2:49 p.m., a communications watchstander at Coast Guard Station Calumet Harbor witnessed the personal watercraft capsize and notified the rescue boatcrew.
Shortly after arriving on scene the rescue boatcrew, aboard a 25-foot Response Boat-Small, pulled two people aboard the boat as the other person was being pulled aboard the lifeguard boat. All three people rescued were wearing a life jacket.
The Coast Guard boatcrew towed the personal watercraft to the 95th Street boat ramp in Chicago.
No medical attention was needed.
