SEATTLE – The Coast Guard airlifted a male surfer who was stranded on a cliff near Indian Beach, Ore., on Tuesday.
Coast Guard Group Astoria received a call at 6:15 p.m. from Seaside Police Dispatch requesting helicopter support for a surfer who was stranded on a cliff. The surfer was stranded approximately 200-feet above water near Indian Beach, on the south side of Tillamook Head, Ore.
Coast Guard Air Station Astoria launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew at 6:36 p.m.
The Coast Guard was able to hoist the surfer and transport him to the beach where Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue personnel were waiting.
