Coast Guard airlifts injured teen

SEATTLE – The Coast Guard airlifted an injured 17-year-old male from the Westport Marina in Wesport, Wash., today.

While fishing on a marina wall, the teenager had fallen into the water and sustained injuries that needed immediate medical attention. Local emergency medical technicians were able to place the teenager on some nearby rocks.

A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria launched to the scene and airlifted the injured teen from the rocks. The crew transported the teen to Bowerman Airfield in Hoquiam, Wash., where local Hoaquiam fire and emergency personnel was waiting to transport him to a hospital.
