Coast Guard airlifting ill crewman near Nantucket Island

BOSTON — A Coast Guard aircrew is airlifting an ill crewmember from a 59-foot fishing vessel approximately 50 nautical miles southeast of Nantucket Island, Mass., Sat., July 3, 2010.


Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England in Woods Hole, Mass., received a VHF-FM radio call from the Toots II, based out of Point Pleasant, NJ, around 6:45 p.m., requesting assistance for a crewmember experiencing chest and stomach pains.

A Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod is hoisting the 40-year old man and plans to transport him to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass.
