Coast Guard aircrews medevacs woman from Catalina Island

Pacific Southwest Coast Guard News
LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a woman from Catalina Island, Calif., early Tuesday morning when she required medical treatment not available on the island.

A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles was launched and arrived at Catalina Island around 6:20 a.m., and picked up a 57-year-old woman needing further medical attention after suffering a heart attack.

The aircrew safely transferred her to St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., for further treatment.

The Coast Guard’s assistance was requested in this case due to poor early morning visibility and weather conditions.
