Coast Guard aircrew rescues fisherman

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Coast Guard rescued a fisherman who was in need of medical attention today aboard a 79-foot fishing boat 40 miles east off the coast of Cape May, N.J.

Rescued was Thomas Bowers, 46-years old.

The Coast Guard received a call at 8:16 a.m. from a crewman aboard the Catalina II requesting a medevac for Bowers.

An aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and hoisted the man aboard their helicopter.

The helicopter crew transported Bowers to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s city campus in Atlantic City for treatment.
