Coast Guard aircrew rescues 2 near Cape May, N.J.

CAPE MAY, N.J. – The Coast Guard rescued two people Sunday who were aboard a 72-foot boat adrift 14 miles off the coast here.

Rescued was Colin Clement and John Livingston.

The Coast Guard received a call at 4:06 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the Robert E. Hayes reporting they were disabled and adrift.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May and a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene.

The aircrew hoisted Clement and Livingston aboard their helicopter and transported them to Air Station Atlantic City.

Clement and Livingston were reported to have no injuries but were transferred to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division in Pomona, N.J., as a precaution.

A boat crew from Shamrock Marine Towing is en route to the location of the Robert E. Hayes to salvage the boat.
