Coast Guard aircrew medevacs 50-year-old woman

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – A Coast Guard helicopter crew transported a woman to the hospital after the boat she was aboard ran aground near the Mystic Islands Friday in Little Egg Harbor, N.J.

Rescued was a 50-year-old woman.

The Coast Guard received a call from a member of Sea Tow at 9:50 p.m. Friday reporting a possible injured person aboard an aground vessel.

A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City diverted from a training mission and arrived on scene.

The rescue crew lowered a rescue swimmer to assess the situation and returned to the air station to refuel while a second helicopter crew launched from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City and arrived on scene.

The woman was hoisted aboard the helicopter and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.
