PORT ANGELES, Wash. — Cmdr. Keith P. McTigue assumed command of Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles during a change of command ceremony at the Coast Guard Base in Port Angeles, Friday.
McTigue relieved Capt. Richard A.Hahn who will transfer to Coast Guard Headquarters, in Washington D.C., to serve as the Chief of the Office of Public Affairs.
Commander McTigue’s most recent assignment was as the Deputy Group Commander and Air Station Executive Officer at Group/Air Station North Bend, Ore., from 2009 to 2012. He will be the 39th Commanding Officer of the Port Angeles Coast Guard Base.
McTigue received his commission from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1991. His first assignment was Deck Watch Officer aboard USCGC Laurel (WLB-291) homeported in Mayport, Fla. After selection to flight school, he attended Naval Flight Training in Pensacola, Fla and earned his wings in May 1995.
McTigue’s aviation assignments have included Coast Guard Air Station Houston, Air Station North Bend, and multiple tours at Air Station Kodiak, Alaska. He has served on 10 shipboard aviation detachments and has logged more than 3,600 flight hours in the H-65 Dolphin and the HC-130 Hercules. From 2001 to 2005, Commander McTigue was assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters, Office of Aviation Forces. He served as the platform manager and sponsor’s representative for the acquisition and missionization of the HC-130J. In 2006, he returned to Air Station Kodiak, and from 2007-2009 served as Operations Officer, responsible for operational risk management and flight operations throughout an area encompassing 4 million square miles.
