SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento is hosting a memorial service for the aircrew of Coast Guard HC-130 1705 Friday at 11 a.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 12:30 p.m.
The crew of the Air Station Sacramento C-130 Hercules fixed-wing aircraft was assisting with a search and rescue operation near San Clemente Island, Calif., Thursday evening. During the search, the Coast Guard aircraft and a Marine Corps AH-1W helicopter collided.
An extensive search was conducted by the Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, and Customs Border Protection Air/Marine Branch for several days following the accident. The search was suspended Sunday morning, and no survivors were found.
