ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Capt. R. Scott Craig assumed command of Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City during a change of command ceremony Thursday at Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City at 10:30 a.m.

Capt. Craig relieved Capt. Joseph P. Kelly, who served as the air station’s commanding officer since 2011.
As commanding officer of Air Station Elizabeth City, Capt. Craig and his team will oversee aviation operations encompassing the eastern seaboard from Canada to the Caribbean.
Personnel assigned to Air Station Elizabeth City are responsible for search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, port and waterways safety and security, homeland defense and military readiness and marine environmental protection.
Capt. Craig assumed command after spending the past two years as the executive assistant to the assistant commandant for resources and chief financial officer for the U.S. Coast Guard.
Rear Adm. Stephen P. Metruck, the 5th District commander, presided over the ceremony.
