MIAMI — Two men and their two dogs were rescued from a fishing vessel 80 nautical miles west of Great Inagua, Bahamas, Wednesday afternoon.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 7th District command center received a report that a 55-foot fishing vessel, Island Cruiser, was taking on water with two men aboard and required assistance. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Florida, deployed to the Bahamas responded to the report, arrived on scene and lowered a dewatering pump to the men aboard the boat.

After the vessel in distress lost all the electronics and steering on board, the aircrew hoisted the two people, their two dogs and transported them Matthew Town, Great Inagua.

There were no reports of any injuries.
