Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater crew medevacs man 150 miles offshore

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 51-year-old man was medevaced from a 65-foot boat by the Coast Guard 150 miles northwest of Clearwater, Florida, Wednesday.

Rescued was Randy Halloway.

The operator of the 65-foot fishing boat Capt Gorman III contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, Florida, at approximately 5:20 p.m., stating Randy Halloway, a crewmember, was was experiencing chest pains and needed emergency medical assistance. A Coast Guard flight surgeon was notified and recommended the man be medevaced.

At around 8:20 p.m, an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater arrived on scene, hoisted the man, and transported him to Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Florida, for further medical treatment.
