BOSTON — The U.S. Coast Guard is scheduled to conduct an active-shooter exercise Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Air Station and Base Cape Cod.
The training is conducted to prepare air station personnel to effectively respond to the threat of an active shooter.
Local law enforcement has been notified that simulated gunshots may be heard and base security force response activity may be observed in the area during the routine training exercise.
“We do not wish to alarm local residents, however, we urge the public not to discount any suspicious activity or incident as a training exercise,” said Chief Petty Officer Timothy R. Steele, the command security officer for Air Station Cape Cod.
“Remain vigilant, and if you do see something, say something,” he said.
