BOSTON — A helicopter crew based in Cape Cod, Mass., is en route to airlift a 39-year old crewman from an Isle of Man-flagged tanker about 250 miles southeast of Cape Cod, Mass., Tues., Feb. 2, 2010.
The Coast Guard Fifth District Command Center, based in Portsmouth, Va., received a call around 6 a.m., from the 600-foot tanker British Harmony crew, reporting crewman Alan Moran was experiencing severe abdominal pains.
The Fifth District Command Center requested the tanker crew head north toward Cape Cod where an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod is expected to meet them around 1:30 p.m.
After the Jayhawk crew airlifts the crewman they plan to take him to the air station where an ambulance will be waiting for transport to a local hospital.
