Coast Guard air crew evacuates 73 year-old crewmember from oil rig

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 73-year-old man from oil rig approximately 100 miles southwest of New Orleans early this morning in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Coast Guard received a call at approximately 2:30 a.m. today reporting that an oil rig crewmember was suffering from chest pains and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew that arrived on scene at approximately 4 a.m. The crewmember was transported to Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, LA.

His condition is unknown.
