NEW LONDON, Conn. – The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Corps of Cadets is scheduled to honor retiring Representative William D. Delahunt, 10th Congressional District of Massachusetts, during a regimental review Friday at 4 p.m. on the Washington Parade Field at the academy here.
As founder and Co-Chair of the Coast Guard Caucus, Congressman Delahunt has been a supporter of the Coast Guard. Having served as a radarman in the Coast Guard Reserves from 1963 to 1971, one of his early initiatives during his first term in office was to create a bipartisan Coast Guard Caucus. The group advocates for the necessary appropriations and statutory authorities to enable the Coast Guard to meet its maritime safety and security missions.
