New London, CT – The U.S. Coast Guard Academy has again been recognized this year as one of the best undergraduate educational institutions in the nation. According to U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2017 rankings, the Academy placed second in the Regional Colleges North category. The institution also placed number12 in the Best in Undergraduate Engineering Programs category.
CGA was included in “The Best 381 Colleges” an annual college guide from the Princeton Review. Only about 15% of the nation’s four-year schools are included in the annual publication, which does not rank order institutions but relies on student ratings. The guide listed the Academy among the top ten “Best-Run Colleges”, and in the top three of both the “Most Accessible Professors”, and “Students Most Engaged in Community Service” lists.
The Academy was also included in the “America’s Top Colleges” list by Forbes magazine. The magazine ranked CGA in the Top 25 Public Colleges list, and #13 in their Top STEM Colleges list. Forbes partners with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP) in Washington, D.C. to examine return on investment and what students are getting out of college.
As one of the smallest of the five federal service academies, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy offers a quality higher education experience that emphasizes leadership, physical fitness and professional development. Cadets here devote themselves to an honor concept and go directly into positions of leadership in service to others.
