Captain of the Port fully reopens the Port of Hampton Roads

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Coast Guard Captain of the Port of Hampton Roads fully reopened the port at 8 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2008.

This now includes the Intracoastal Waterway from Great Bridge Lock south to the Virginia/North Carolina border.

Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while on the water. Tropical storm-force winds, high surf and heavy rainfall may have resulted in strong currents, marine debris and hazards to navigation.

The public may call (757) 668-5617 for an updated recorded message with current hurricane conditions or visit the U.S. Coast Guard Fifth District public information Web site at http://hanna.uscgstormwatch.com.
