Capsized Boat Was Stolen, Owner Safe

MIAMI – Coast Guard search and rescue coordinators at Sector Miami and Pedro Delguys were able to talk about 10 a.m. Monday concerning his 30-foot Century vessel found capsized 12 miles east of Haulover Inlet, Fla., Sunday morning by a good Samaritan.

Delguys reported to rescue coordinators that he had been in Tampa over the weekend and when he returned to his home last night he reported his vessel stolen to the Cutler Ridge Police Department in Cutler Ridge, Fla.

The Coast Guard has suspended its search efforts off Haulover Inlet. No reports of any missing or overdue people have been called into the Coast Guard search and rescue center.

The Coast Guard immediately launched several vessels and aircraft when notified of the overturned vessel. No signs of anyone being in the water were found during the daylight and night time searches.

Anyone with information regarding the theft of the 30-foot Century vessel should contact the Cutler Ridge Police Department.
