Camp Fire USA youth visit Cutter James Rankin

BALTIMORE – Children from the Camp Fire USA youth organization will join crewmembers from the Coast Guard Cutter James Rankin Tuesday to exchange Valentines Day cards and learn about the roles and missions of the Coast Guard.

This is the 5th annual visit to the 175-foot buoy tender homeported in Baltimore, Md., and offers the children an opportunity to deliver valentines wishes to crewmembers, have a snack in the cutter’s galley and tour the ship. Afterwards, crewmembers aboard the cutter will discuss the history of the Coast Guard, its roles and missions and how it serves the community.

“We are very excited to have the Camp Fire kids aboard and are glad they adopted us,” said Lt. Wayne Wallace, commanding officer of the James Rankin. “The crew and I look forward to their visit every year.”
