Body of Solon, Ohio woman found, Coast Guard continues searching for man

Coast Guard District 9 NewsCLEVELAND – U.S. Coast Guard boat and aircrews continue searching for a Solon, Ohio, man Sunday night after the body of the woman he was with was located inside the couple’s vessel.

Dead is Pam Holstein of Solon.

Missing is Charles Kaplan, 58, also of Solon.

The Coast Guard and other responders began searching for the couple after someone at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, saw their 36-foot Rinker capsized on the east side of Cedar Point Breakwall and notified authorities.

Members of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources worked with a commercial salvage company to bring the vessel to a local marina where it could be searched. There ODNR personnel found Holstein’s body inside the vessel.

A Coast Guard boatcrew aboard a 33-foot Special Purpose Craft – Law Enforcement boat from Coast Guard Station Marblehead and an aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit continue to search Lake Erie for Kaplan.
